Quite impressed – After living in the DC area for a few years with top notch Indian selections, I knew coming to a new city it would be hard to beat. However, I was quite impressed with this restaurant's food and come back pretty regularly.

Pathetic service – I would not even give the place one star...the service is pathetic and the food is no good either. The waiters ignore you completely and would not even come to refill the water and you might have to wait for another 15 minutes for someone to come and refill.... If you complain to them that the meat doesnt taste good or it is stale they wont even bother to listen and talking to manager wont help either...specially if you are Indian!!!! Great place to take friends and family! – India Garden is one of the best secrets in Oakland. The menu is extensive and the food is prepared fresh. This restaurant doesn't cut corners like some college town Indian restaurants do. I highly suggest ordering from the entree menu if you enjoy Indian food. The Chicken Chili is untraditional and a delicious treat. The Naan, Vegetarian, Chicken, and Tandoori plates are authentic and delicious. I go for the food – All the remarks about the service are true. I have been to this restaurant twice for the lunch buffet. The first time I had to wait 15 minutes for water. The employees treated me as if I did not exist . I will go back this year because it is in an ideal location for me and the food is above average.

mediocre service for sure, but so worth it for the food – the service is downright horrible pretty much everytime i go there, however it is a small price to pay for excellent food. I would love to be mad at this restaurant bc of the service but everytime i go there, my food is always perfect. ive been going here for over 7 years and have gone quite a bit of times. The place has worst tasteless food that I have ever tasted. Everything had so much cream it like that I was paying for $12 for a quart of cream. No flavor was in the food. I asked the food to be delivered they said $4 for delivary, I paid almost $24 for food that tasted like crap. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I dont know how these people mange to rip off their customers and make money. I would rather die before I would go to India Garden ever again.

Awful service, inconsistent food – My lamb korma was tough, gristley, and lukewarm but it was perfectly seasoned to my request. SOs chicken vindaloo was good. Mulligatowny had nice flavor but was very thin. Tandoori salad was nice take on chicken - unusual coating was tasty. Spinach nan had a light garlic taste with spinach topping on puffy dough.
