Not a great experience at all! I took my 14ct gold necklace to see how much could I sell it for.. The lady/which I prefer not to name/checked it and offered £60. When I agreed, she changed her mind very quickly and claimed it's 9ct gold and she could give me £40. The hallmark 585 is clearly seen on the necklace! What a disgrace to lie to their customers!!
Took my grandmother's ring in to be valued and the member of staff tried to tell me the stamp reading 18c GOLD PLAT. meant gold plated and that the stones were therefor fake?! Even when I tried to explain that even I knew PLAT. was a historical mark for platinum the guy laughed at me. Took it to Asquiths who tested and polished it and confirmed it was as marked - ie gold and platinum with real stones and worth a five figure sum (all for free). Take care!
*** to clarify, this is not a review about this store in particular but rather about some dubious practice from Est 1987 network - owned by H&T *** A few days ago I reserved a relatively high value item for "View in store" @ their store in Clapham. My request was approved (09/06) through a separate email and confirmed by a customer service operator. The item was reserved for me. Yesterday morning (11/06) I noticed that the item's status changed from "reserved" to "sold out" and my viewing request shifted to "not available". ... read more
