I have been going to Howard Brown since November of 2013 and I found the staff there amazing. They truly helped me become the authentic and healthier person that I am today. Yes I have had some long wait times to see the doctor but, if I have an afternoon appointment, how many people as he seen before me. If he spent 5-10 minutes longer with each patient you land up with scheduling issues. While I got the medical care I needed as a transgender woman, til this day I still don't understand WHY the caseworker and the nurse who took my weight both laughed in my face on my first visit. And then, to have that same nurse laugh in my face on additional visits, as well as, another nurse who by his demeanor seemed to be put off by me. My doctors were friendly and knowledgeable. And I got the medications, referrals and letters I needed, I just wish the rest of the staff would have been as friendly and accepting.
We were waiting for a prescription from Walgreen's (which is the best) and the clinic had a radio station on in the lobby, I HEART RADIO. I HEART RADIO gives us Rush Lembaugh and all the hate talk radio. I was surprised no one at the clinic was aware of it. How about switching to public radio, like WFMT, who are VERY GLBT welcoming.
I been going here for last 3 years and I have a great medical team if they go over the 20 mins past the appointment time I notify my contact person who then pushes everything so i see my providers i have top of the line providers at Howard Brown clinic at 4025 N. Sheridan Chicago ILL
God bless such an organization to help a family in total and utter crisis find a gateway to healing.
