The food is delicious, the service was prompt and friendly. We got our food fairly quick after we ordered it. The place has a downhome, small town cafe feel, and welcome environment!!
1st time at Hoover’s, and love it. The food was the prefect size and super good. The only thing I would change would if someone orders a starter (appetizer) to have it delivered to the table before the main food gets to the table. It’s a littler weird getting all the food at once.

I had dinner at Hoover’s tonight mostly because Roland’s soul food isn’t open at night. I ordered the pork chop with three sides and picked two sides and a salad. The server said they have cucumber/ tomato salad and kale salad. I said I wanted the dinner salad form the menu and my bald,two loop earring, goatee server said NO. He didn’t say I’m sorry we’re out of that salad he just said NO. So i asked why and he said the lettuce had gone brown on them. So i guess the KM didn’t do a good job of rotating the lettuce(FIFO). Awesome food! Excellent waiters! This place is fantastic and was a pleasure to eat there. My daughter attends UT Austin and we definitely will be back at this place. I encourage anyone in Austin to eat here.
Great hole in the wall restaurant. Their Jerk Chicken is fabulous!

Since Hoovers is so fundamentally opposed to giving its workers paid sick leave (They protested it) Im fundamentally opposed to giving them any more patronage.

Have eaten here for years and my first disappointing meal today. Sweet potato pie was tasted like vanilla scented hand lotion. Gumbo was OK. My partner had catfish, coleslaw, fries, and beans. He liked the beans. Made me very sad. Usually the food is amazing.
