Service is usually pretty good, but occasionally slow. My friend and I usually split chicken fried chicken. It’s always hot & delicious, but the size often varies, sometimes enough that it’s not enough meat for two people. I love the jalapeño creamed spinach, but it’s often not hot when the plate arrives. Other sides are just so-so; I can make tastier ones myself. If you like simple, tasty food, you’ll probably enjoy Hoovers!

First of all, the food is awesome. It reminds me of my childhood. And no one makes butterbeans like my Mama. OMG. The pies. This food will fix bad politics! But the best part is the people. The service was top notch. The young man that seated us was prompt and to the point. A multitasking fool, he was. The waitress was efficient, friendly and got it done for our table of 8. First time here. I was craving that soul food taste. I was referred by a coworker. I ordered the ribs, ehhhh, wasn't thrilled because they gave me the boneless ends and it was dried and hard. I will try it one more time. As for the waiter....he forgot the bread and never came back to see if everything was okay or if I needed something. Maybe next time I'll Get a different waiter. Maybe next time the ribs world be juicy HOOVER. I am not giving up.

Being way out of town I searched the internet looking for the best chicken fried steak restaurant in Austin, Texas to dine on a family road trip there. Many places came up - mind we were coming in on a Sunday - so many were not open. I enjoy the great food and friendly staff. I receive excellent customer service. I really like the prices they also are very reasonable.
It has changed a lot. Not what it used to be. Portions are different. I've noticed that the portions are smaller now and if you want to have bigger portions, you have to "Hoover" it. Certain side items aren't from scratch anymore. For example, the macaroni and cheese. The meat items were good though. But a lot of their items aren't seasoned anymore. Which I can understand since some people can't have much seasons or salt.
Food is always amazing! Great service, one of Austin's locally owned gems.

This was our first time here. Food was awesome. Service well can’t say it was good or bad. The waiter forgot our appetizer. Took forever to get drinks refilled I had to ask another waiter. The Entry’s were awesome. We will be back hope not to get the same waiter. It was stellar Food!
