Bloody shocking! Owed me £2,789 in rebate for over 2 years! Couldn’t issue it because every time I called they said I need to wait longer because there were issues on their side. I had bills to pay! Suddenly, 3 years later once they had finally paid it out. I underpaid tax so owed them £437. They forced me to pay this within 10 days??? THEY TOOK 2 YEARS TO PAY ME MY MONEY BUT I HAD TO PAY THEM WITHIN 10 DAYS!
I've received a letter to let HMRC know that my 16 year old will remain in education (she will do A-levels) and their verification system is appalling. Tried to verified online with driving licence it doesn't "match" the details same as my passport (details are absolutely the same as the gov.uk). So, for the last 3 weeks, I have been calling everyday and no answer, I even stayed 1 hour and 45 minutes on the phone and nothing. I will lose my monthly child benefits payments due to these people incompetence. Unbelievable....
A hugely long message on the phone saying everything except that the office was closed! The message instead, " Thanks for waiting. One of our advisors will be with you shortly". However, three stars as finally getting through to an HMRC advisor the puzzling figures on the "simple assessment" were patiently and logically explained by the HMRC advisor.
