Old building, needs some upgrades. Waited for hot water for my shower about 20 minutes. Finally just got in and showered. Went down to lobby to get a cup of coffee, gal at the desk pointed to the restaurant. No complimentary coffee or breakfast. Talked to another customer in lobby. He said he and his wife just wanted to be part of the history but would no stay there again. He never got any hot water and had to shower cold. RecommendedThe staff was friendly, the food was delicious, and the room was simply charming. It took us back to the 1800's with 21st century amenities. We were tired from the ride from Sturgis, and started out in the bar, easily making friends with the bartender and other guests. What a great experience! We will be back!
I had a wonderful stay a the Plains! I was on a YMT tour and it kicked everything off right. Staff were helpful, the room was clean and the decor historic. Thank you!
Although it's a bit dated (105 years old)... there is definite charm to it. We had a a small hiccup upon check in, but all was resolved. Great customer service.
Won't be back! Didn't care for food. Employee did not show up to help with luggage. Room next to street very noisy.
Great old hotel with plenty of authentic turn-of-century (20th) ambiance. Genuinely friendly, helpful staff and management.
We went to the wheatgrass restaurant tonight inside the Plains hotel, and unfortunately they ran out of food due to an AWESOME restaurant week deal (that's why we went there) but would go back in a heart beat. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, the appetizer we had was fantastic and honestly the service was the best I've ever experienced. The new management is definitely headed in the right direction.
