EXCELLENT restaurant! – This is the BEST RESTAURANT ever! The staff is very professional, polite and courteous. The manager makes it a point to personally greet each guest! (This is a first). The menu is outstanding and the chefs are consistently GREAT! If you are seeking a great meal in a very beautiful setting, this place will provide you with a MEMORABLE meal. Dining here is relaxing and the food is very tasty and will make you say 'WOW!" GOOD JOB HILLSTONE! I will be a regular at this restaurant!
Don't judge our city by this place – Visitors to our great city: If you happen to dine at Houston's on Kirby please don't judge the city or its citizens by your experience here. I can't explain its popularity, although at one time Houstn' served the best fast casual food in the city. The arrogant attitude by management, the untrained waiters, the over-priced menu, all contribute to a negative dining experience. $13 Chopped Meat Patty – Because of my diet, I ordered a plain broiled meat patty (instead of the full-blown hamburger on the menu that included lettuce, tomato and onion on a house-made bun). They charged me the full price of a hamburger. That's their "policy" ~ and perogative. It was the best chopped meat patty I've ever had and the worst price I've ever paid for one. The $13 price left a bad taste in my mouth.
very romantic – My boyfriend and I went on 2/20/09 and yes like many of you have mentioned, the wait is long. We waited 30 minutes for table. The food(rotessirie chicken) was GREAT my boyfriend was licking his fingers. Atmosphere was romantic he felt he as underdressed. He did not like the fact that he had to take off his hat. the price for a soda is $3 and no refill thats was crazy. But we enjoyed the place.
It's a Waiting Game – The Kirby location is nearest where I live, and the point of reference in this review. I have always enjoyed many of the salad offerings at Houston's, and the veggie burger too. I can't think of a time when I was disappointed with either menu selection. I've always gotten great service at the bar; the wines by the glass are run-of-the-mill, but drinkable nonetheless. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!! – One of my favorite chain restaurants in town... actually probably my favorite chain restaurant in town. Best spinach/artichoke dip I've ever had hands down. Amazing French dip sandwhich. Awesome fries/Hamburger and great ribeye. While the wait can be annoying, I find that going to the bar and having a drink makes always makes the wait more bearable.
great food, great service – i have been into several houston's locations and all of them are really nice and clean, the staff is always friendly and the food is always great, sometimes is more than one hour waiting time but you can enjoy a drink at the bar meanwhile. they took out of the menu the Texas burger, but if you ask them they will prepare it for yourself still on saturdays like usual. they should include the 'tres leches" at all the locations, unfortunately is available only in Miami menu.
Fool me once shame on you.... – My friend made the mistake of choosing Houston's for her going-away dinner. Having been there before and tasted their bland food I was not exactly thrilled, but I went anyway. Not only were we told that they do not accept reservations, which is ridiculous enough as it is, but then we were told that they could not accommodate a party of 9 on a slow Monday night. Great Food, Good Atmosphere, Wonderful Place – I have had the pleasure of frequenting Houston's on Westheimer. It is always a wonderful experience. Some of the reviews on here are totally misleading. The complaints about no reservations and no takeout does not mean a place is 1 Star! Come on people. Anyways, I think the food here is awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant for dates.
