The restaurant is operated by a 3rd generation Ellison and current pitmaster Jeff and has been serving the greatest BBQ in the Tri-State area since 1957. Our smokers use real hickory wood and our meats are cooked low & slow for that authentic barbecue flavor. The food was disgusting. Decided to order there for lunch for the first time. We ordered THE BIG BAMA the pulled pork sandwiches. By the time we got back to the office the bottom bun was so soaked it couldn't be eaten, there was hardly any BBQ sauce on the sandwich at all, never seen pulled pork like this before. I am all about supporting locally owned business, but this was not right at all. Well needless to say this is my opinion and I will not be back. Sometimes the staff you have hurts you the most.
RecommendedA true diamond in the rough if Evansville’s food scene. Honestly, I’m a little glad that not everyone knows about this place - because, if everyone knew Hickory Pit Stop, you’d never be able to get a seat! Really great BBQ at unbelievably terrific prices. Super cool place! We love stopping here before an Otters game!!

First time there. Got 1/2 chicken. Rib ends. Pound of pork and slaw and potato salad and a piece of pie. Everyone loved it. Everything was delicious and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try this place. Customer for life!!
