History Established in 1953. Heavner's was founded in 1953 when Chester and Stella Heavner moved here from Detroit, bringing six canoes with them. We now have over 200 kayaks and canoes to rent. The business is still owned and operated by Chester and Stella's son, Alan.

I've been coming to the Milford location for 30 years. Always a great time, many fond memories. Alan runs a good business. We live in Clarkston so there are a couple places that are closer, but they don't compare to being on the Huron River.
Great place to rent kayaks! Very inexpensive and they even gave us a five dollar off coupon for our next visit. We will definitely be back!
Alan accommodated us mid-week, when he was technically not open. Great experience and lovely 3 hour canoe trip.
Always great and always fun!! My adult kids go back a few times every season
The staff and Alan were so nice and helpful. They really made sure your needs were met, especially since I'm a new-be! After a fish jumped into my kayak, in the pitch dark (I was doing the harvest moon paddle out), they were very helpful in getting the fish out without me tipping it vet, as I was screaming ! Lol! I think it was a first for all of us! The bon fire at the end was a very nice touch!
