History Established in 1953. Heavner's was founded in 1953 when Chester and Stella Heavner moved here from Detroit, bringing six canoes with them. We now have over 200 kayaks and canoes to rent. The business is still owned and operated by Chester and Stella's son, Alan.

The employees were all very nice and very accommodating. It was a absolutely wonderful day. I will definitely be back.
Great experience with a large group, 11 canoes and 2 kayaks. Staff was very accommodating with our needs to adjust time due to weather. Island lake to Placeway Rd was very beautiful, a little challenging with down trees, but that made it a bit more exciting to manuver through. We will canoe here again in the future.
Great time relaxing in a kayak. The end of the trip is on the edge of Milford downtown where you can walk up and eat at any of the restaurants before either taking the shuttle back to the launch or paddling the reverse course to the launch.

Just was there yesterday on my daughter field trip and I had a great time, it was my first time canoeing and I'll definitely be back this summer. The staff was friendly as well, I enjoyed the time I was there!
I went on my Daughter's field trip with her class and we had an excellent time. The staff was friendly and explained to us not only the nuts and bolts of canoeing but about what to look for and the nature surrounding us. Amazing!
