At Hattie's, you'll be pleasantly surprised the variety of entrées offered. It's always the best of what the season has to offer, put together creatively. A glance at the menu and you'll come across some interesting concoctions—buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Tasso ham gravy, goat cheese and herb stuffed chicken breast, and BLT pasta. The menu looks different every season!

casual schick – I am no sure what some of these people are talking about. I have eaten at Hattie's tons of times, and I have never experienced anything that I wouldn't expect at any other restaurant, If I go to a restaurant without a reservation I expect to WAIT. If someone is going to review a restaurant I expect them to have common sense. I worked in restaurants for years, and often the restaurant wasn,t full however people who had the for thought to make a RESERVATION had dibs on those tables. So before you write a scathi... read more
Snubbed in the Bishop Arts District??? – The haughty manager at Hattie's ruined what had been a delightful evening out. After dining on fabulous sushi at Teppo, we stopped by Hattie's for dessert and coffee. We were left standing alone (as in, no one else around, i.e., not crowded) like orphans in the postage stamp that they call a bar while the manager "checked availability". We could clearly see that there were empty tables in the restaurant. After a 10 minute wait we were told by the manager that we "probably wouldn't wan... read more
Terrible Service & Average Food – My 1st time at Hatties (lunch) was wonderful. But 2 months later when I went last night for dinner we were all disappointed. We had a reservation, but it took a good 5-7 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us standing there (and by the way, there was NOONE else waiting). Anyway, all throughout dinner the service was just exceptionally slow. Everytime we needed something we literally had to search and flag down our waiter. And as for the food, the pecan crusted catfish was the only memorab... read more
UNBLELIEVABLE PROK CHOPS!!!! – tenderest (word?) most succulently juicy pork chops I have ever tasted! Cute little place in Bishop Arts District. small and cozy interior. Service was very warm and welcoming. I wish we had more occassion to go down there. This place will be on the top of our list every time we do go
3 D's For Dinner – My husband and I made our 1st visit to Hattie's last Saturday. Expectations were high. but I was severely disappointed, disillusioned, and dissatisfied. My meal (chicken breast stuffed with cornbread dressing with crayfish over tomato pilau) was a beautiful disaster. It looked great, but the stuffing was thick, gummy, and tastless. The chicken was crying out for at least a little salt. I was shocked that a dish like that could come from such a lovely looking place. In contrast, my husband had the meatloaf ... read more
Hattie's is a perfect 10! – I had been to Hattie's when they first opened but have recently returned twice in the last month. Everything was fabulous. . . appetizers, entrees, desserts, service, ambience. I would especially recommend the Chicken Fried Scallops appetizer, any salad on the menu, and the Low Country Shrimp. On one trip, my sister-in-law from North Carolina was with us. She is a travel agent, and she commented that this was only the second restaurant she had been to in her entire lifewhere every course served wa... read more
The Best – I have been going to Hattie's almost every two weeks since it opened. The staff is extremely friendly, the food is interesting and excellent. The chicken fried scallops are a wonderful surprise. Tony always greets everyone with a smile. Kristen is friendly, fun, and professional. Even the beautiful people of North Dallas find this Oak Cliff treasure a great place to go for excellent food and fun. Close to Downtown for lunch as well.
Disappointing – I loved the place when I walked in the door. I continued to enjoy it through the soup and the salad. It went downhill from there. The pulled pork did not have a good flavor. The meatloaf served to my dinner companion was only mediocre. Staff was very pleasant and friendly but not enough to compensate for the poor service from the kitchen. It was very pricey.
Hidden Treasure – A great dining experience and a hidden treasure in South Dallas. The food is excellent, ambiance is eclectic-chic, not inexpensive but a great date place. The service can be a little lax, but friendly. It gets noisy with the concrete floors and tin ceiling, but overall a really enjoyable experience.
