Everything about our visit was exceptional from the weather to the meal! It was our 37 anniversary so we decided to visit Gruene and had been told that we must eat at Gristmill! We were told the wait would be 20-30 minutes and they called our name within 15 minutes! The set us at a table overlooking the river and a waitress was at our table within seconds! The outdoor environment is pleasing but inside the tables we too close. My chair fell on a hole in the floor and the table was soooooo grimy that it grossed me out. The chicken salad sandwich was tasteless. The bacon or whatever it was didn't enhance it. It was also too wet. I like rustic but this can be better.

It’s always one of our first choices for relaxed delicious meals. We love the rack of baby back ribs.
Such a beautiful environment and amazing food. I had the pasta and I also had some of my husband's mashed taters and green beans. Oh my gosh, so good. :P~
first time here and it was perfect. our server sam was phenomenal and on top of things. it was great food and great atmosphere. definitely going back again.

What a fun atmosphere in an awesome old building. Our table on a deck among the treetops overlooking the river was a fun experience for all of us. Our great granddaughters 8-3 told their parents we had lunch in a treehouse. May they always remember having lunch with Nonnie, Poppa, and Grammie in a treehouse. Our burgers, salads, and chicken strips were delicious as well. Food was great, service was great, and we had a fun time with our Littles! Win-Win! Thank you Gristmill!
Fantastic atmosphere. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked just as I asked. Really good. Only improvement advice I can offer would be to season the steaks up a little more and get more craft beer offerings. Enjoyed the evening there and will go back again!
Atmosphere is out of this world. Food was bland, which was too bad. Everything sounded wonderful when we ordered, but when the food arived we found it to be underseasoned.
