Very poor experience with the Greater Iowa Credit Union. They offered me financing on a new pick up which we purchased and then charged over $3000 for insurance for 30 days when they forgot to file my insurance card information. Very rude customer service actually told me they recommend that I get service somewhere else and re-finance as they did not like my insurance company. Still have not gotten my refund to this day three months later. And have financed a new truck with a new bank with zero issues.
RecommendedWe have been members since 1988 and love their service whether at the window or drive up. I remember when I had to spend almost a year down in Texas; I could always call GICU and know that they would help me. In the past we have had both personal and vehicle loans and if any problems, a phone call was all it took. The one thing I do miss is the front information desk. Was sorry to see that change. I don’t know where to start... after being a member for last 26 years I am taking my business elsewhere. The don’t have a great customer service skills. They use a third party vendor who has 100% access to your bank account... called GICU to clarify and they said there is nothing we can do about it. � I never asked for a third party vendor. I also had an experience of hacking to my account for $200.
Not a very customer friendly credit union. Wayyyy too many unusual rules that aren't part of other credit unions. Plus, my card has been hacked four times now. No EMV chip yet? When I asked about it in the bank the lady seemed pissed I even brought it up. I pulled over $100K out of the bank and will transfer my house mortgage after my one year agreement.
I will never recommend anyone to EVER use this credit union. Dealing with the employees on the phone is a joke. I've been called names and put down by the employee that I had to deal with for over 2 years. They messed up my loan in the end and seem to have misplaced payments I made. Worst banking institution I've ever dealt with.

Absolutely the worst financial institution to deal with... they turn an otherwise simple vehicle loan into a week long process. Can’t wait till I don’t have to deal with them anymore.. Oh yeah. They also claim if you transfer your auto loan with them, they will give you a percentage of that loan back. Well that’s false too. They come up with reasons not to... Just A bunch of liars, cheats and thieves.. I recommend to take your business elsewhere.
Although, I'm grateful that I received my auto loan through this organization, I have to wonder how much they pay attention to the payments that are made to them. I requested, and received a payoff statement for my loan, only to receive no paid statement and to discover, for some reason I have a remaining balance of $33. Seriously people?
