Greater Iowa Credit Union We joined this bank when we lived in Ames and we love it! Their billpay is great because you just tell them what day you want the bill to be paid on and they mail it just in time so it arrives right on time. Great for avoiding late fees or overdraft charges! Their overdraft fees I think are a bit steep, though, $29 for every charge you overdraft, but if we ever had problems with that they worked with us to get most of those fees back. Would not recommend them for a loan! I paid off a loan that I had with them and over paid them.They said they had no clue that I overpaid them.I called many times was put on hold forever and was even cut off.When they finally found out that i over paid them they said the check was in the mail It took a month before I recieved the over payment check from them.If I would have missed a monthly payment they would have come and repossed my vehicle.
Had my first auto loan through Greater Iowa Credit Union (Eastside Branch) many years ago and it was an all around great experience! They even worked with me when I had a few late payments.
RecommendedRecently switched all of my personal banking and loan accounts to GICU in Indianola and I could not be happier!!! The customer service and detailed care that Mack Rankin took while working with me was above and beyond! Thank you GICU and Mack! I am a very happy customer!

For loans they are a joke. Idk what loan officer “helped” me today in the Clive office but that’s exactly what she didn’t do is help me. She didn’t want to help me at all. I told her exactly what i was coming in for and she didn’t want to get any of my information from me to help me out. Greater Iowa probably should look into hiring loan officers who want to do their job. Advice to lady, be more empathetic to people who are coming in to try to better their situation don’t be a dick

opened accounts at indianola location. Alyssa was great setting up but was never told you cant deposit CASH through the atm to checking. charges to close, to open and monthly. i work during all their business hours so i was required to get off early to close account. i went to close my account one teller was busy the- other was on a personal call for over 20 min then cried in bathroom for 10 while the line pulled up. Very disappointed in this business . complete waste of my time and hard earned cash.
