We found some great sized gems, for a great price. The people are nice and will sit down and take time to explain everything you find. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting this area .
Got some cool gems & two geodes. Really like how well they help you identify your gems. These parts were great. The not so favorite part is that they use dirt instead of sand for their gem mining & the water isn’t flowing through the troughs. The mud is very hard to wash off of the stones so it takes a lot longer than places that use sand instead of dirt/mud. Glad we got the cool geodes & some nice gems, but in the future we will only be going to gem mines that use sand, not dirt which turns to mud as soon as it gets wet.
I’ve been gem mining several times and this was the most wonderful place for it. We scored quite a few large pieces. The cutting and setting process is so much less stressful than some of the other places I’ve been. There’s a jeweler next door that you can visit IF YOU WANT. They don’t make it a part of your visit, that’s up to you to decide. We did head there because I planned on getting several pieces cut, but i loved that it took the stress and pressure away from feeling like you had to purchase something.
Our mining experience was pretty basic. The guy running the mine was straight to the point and had nothing extra to say or do. We mined and found a good bit of gems. We found a geode and when we asked if he could cut it open, he pointed us to the “jewelry store” next door. So, we did just that. Matt looked through my stones and told me he could cut my gems. Although I was on the fence I agreed to have a sapphire cut for $55 (for sentimental reasons, obviously the stone was le...Continue Reading
Got a beautiful ring made from the aquamarine we found...truly happy! — with Julia Matute.
Worst place! Dirty and nasty! Not like any other mines! Would not recommend it at all!
Stay away!!! This place is a rip off!!!We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, no waiting, went up to the top to get our bucket and they brought it out to us and it was a bucket of clay and mud!!!! The water was so full of clay and running so slow we could barely rinse the clay away. We paid $26.50 and when we finished we had less than a snack bag of rocks and mud rocks and two quarter size pieces of quarts. The worst experience gem mining on the east coast... when we left we were so disappointed that we didn’t even want to hav... read more
