Foodies Eat at Globe! – I read several reviews to Globe that were negagtive prior to my two visits. They complained about both the wait staff and the quality/quantity of food. And after two trips (one on a low volume night, the other in the thick of a huge rush) I can say with out a doubt that they were dead wrong. The host and bartender treated me like a regular after 5 minutes and the portions were right on the money, not too skimpy like some people say. I like to finish my plate not take home half of it. User review by party42 – The Globe has aways been a great place to eat. Made reservations today and expected nothing but the best of food and service. The Lamb Chops were cook to perfection. The Staff was knowledgable and friendly. We never had a empty glass of water. Only dissapointment was the Angel Cake with Bing Cherries. The cake was hard and stale. The cherries were very bland. Besides the dessert, we had a wonderful time.
Sadly Disappointed – Booked The Globe for a small birthday dinner and couldn't have been more disappointed. Looks as though 10 people was more than the staff at The Globe could handle. Our server was terribly condescending and rude. 10 guests were in his mind, unmanageable. The food was sub-par and overpriced. We waited forever to eat! The staff at The Globe needs reminding that satisfied patrons are critical to a restaurant's success. Not only did they loose 10 potential return customers but, as well, those that we share ou... read more
Great late-night dining – The menu, though not a big selection, is very tasty "SF-ed" comfort food. Mac and cheese is quite under seasonsed, but good when you put the salt shaker to use. The home-made spaghetti is a can't miss! Pizza is very tasty as well. The wine selection by the glass is actually quite terrible - which is shocking to see in this city - so splurge for a bottle, where you'll get better choices. The service, though friendly, is (painfully) the slllllooooowwwwesssst you'll see anywhere, so don't hesitate to o... read more
open LATE! – The service at this restaurant left a little to be desired and the prices were a little on the higher side for the portion sizes and quality, but it was relatively easy to find parking and overall was worth the visit.
Unacceptably slow kitchen – On a busy night when I was dining at the bar, I waited 50 minutes for a salad. It required me to ask the bartender and waitstaff numerous times (I only started asking where my food was 25 minutes after I ordered it.) The salad was all I had ordered. In the past, I've loved the Globe. Now, I can't recommend it anymore.
late night feast – One of the best things about Globe is that it's open late. The food, though good and filling, wasn't anything too spectacular. We shared the mac 'n cheese- flavors were a bit bland- nothing exciting, oysters on the half shell- always good came with a cocktail and minonette sauce, a combination of shellfish (mussles, clams, scallops) roasted in a cast iron skillet were flavorful. If you're out and about late at night go here.
just perfect – We dined here last night, heading there late from the Argent at the doorman's recommendation. We were seated immediately in a crowded main floor. The service was quick and helpful - all our needs were met immediately and inobtrusively. The food was very well presented and delicious - salmon, shrimp pizza and romaine salads with a nice bottle of Chardonnay. We ate and talked leisurely over 3 hours, never feeling rushed or uncomfortable. It was a great evening and I'll be back!
Great food, sophomoric service. – While the food was great (except for the bland seabass), the service was clumsy, inept and, generally, distracting. For entrees that average over $20, I would hope for better staff training.
