WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! – We went in last night and were the last to be seated before their 1am closing time. When our server arrived, we offered to order everything right away and pay the check upfront to make it easier for everyone. He rudely told us that the kitchen had already packed everything away and was less than happy to make our food. He did not talk to us once during our whole meal, sloppily poured our wine all over the table, threw our food down angrily. Our craving for their mac n cheese and spaghetti ... read more

Held By Rubberbands – Notably, softdrinks are $3- no free refills, served in pint glasses. Beers are $4. You do the math. Moving on, the hostess was friendly but frantic on a Wed night. She asked for my party's name for a waitlist but never wrote it down. Service was casual fine dining. No pretense, a kind-of "Ask me a question and I'll answer it best I can" attitude. Food was tasty and well portioned. Dessert was horrible and inconsistent; two apple tarts were ordered: one delicious and hot, the other warm and topped with s... read more

Everything Great but... – Went here on a Thursday night and had a great meal but, some odd things occurred. The place is touted as being open late but when we arrived for our 7.30 dinner they were already out of an appetizer listed on the meneu. OK, no big deal. Then the 2002 Cab. we ordered was out and they tried to pass the 2003 on us without a word or apology. Hmmm. Our meals came and some ingredients described on the menu were substituted (salmon with watercress arrived with rapini), again, without a word of achknowledge... read more

i should know... – I worked at Globe for 6 months on an internship from my cooking school (culinary institute of america). An amazing place with a chef who is more dedicated than anyone else in the industry. Many saturday morning trips to the farmers market included picking up hundreds of pounds of produce for our sunday farm menu, and eating every sample people were handing out. The restaurant is a very loud, social place and i dont ever remember seeing an upset person in the room. I remember at about 1:30am we were cleanin... read more

Jackson Square bistro offers late-night Cal cuisine and a buzzing bar scene. – The Scene Hanging lamps and two sky lights illuminate the airy dining room. A steel bar near the entrance is festooned with fresh flowers. Further back, large canvases, including one depicting a railroad-crossing sign, decorate brick walls. A partially exposed kitchen lets the well-dressed, 30-something clientele peek at their food being prepared. There's also a downstairs nook providing semi-private dining for parties of up to 20. The Food Genero... read more

Great food, wine and service! – I ate at Globe for the first time on a friend's recommendation. We went without a reservation, but since it was still before 10pm, we were able to get a table after a short wait (less than 1 drink at the bar). The food was incredible. The macaroni was my favorite dish. I will definitely go back for the macaroni if not for all the other delicious treats. It's a little ways from the main North Beach night life but what's a few extra blocks for some great wine and food? At least it's easier to pa... read more
