First time eating there, wow!! The food was wonderful and very generous portions. I suggest everyone go to Portland for lunch at Gilberts.
The chowda is awesome! I had the fried haddock. It was light and flakey and not greasy at all.
The food was absolutely fantastic. Our server was wonderful. The clam chowder was to die for. Weather was crappy, but the food more than made up for it. Great spot!
Gilbert's may very well have the best chowder that my wife and I have ever had. Generous portions, huge pieces of fresh seafood, great staff, and a great location. The fried oysters were fresh, clean, and delicious. We will be back here again, and again, and again.
The locals sent us here and oh my--BEST CHOWDER EVER! We had the super seafood chowder and it was full of meat. We would definitely go out of our way to eat here again.
It was very busy when we visited, but we received great service and the food food was worth the wait.
