About this business

Georgia Brown's offers a wide variety of soul food and "low country" fare served with Southern hospitality. Select from the traditional dishes of South Carolina, such as fried catfish and seafood gumbo, or be daring and try the shrimp and grits or frogmore stew. In a nod to the health conscious, Georgia Brown's also offers vegetarian versions of the meat-filled entrees. For a special treat, stop in for Sunday brunch, which features live swing jazz and a generous fixed-price menu.

Absolute favorite place to eat while in D.C. I always get the fried chicken, mac n cheese and greens. It never disappoints, did try the sweet peach tea for the first time. Too sweet for my taste.

I'm not impressed with this place. I could have spent $100 somewhere else on better food. It is overpriced. If you have had authentic Southern cuisine in the South, you will not like this place. It is overrated. Kids meals are over priced. The catfish wasn't seasoned well. The service is slow and when we arrived we still waited almost 30 minutes although we had a reservation. Our waitress was overwhelmed because she had too many tables. Even the sweet potato cheesecake was bad. The veggies were good. The main dish, meal, the... read more

This was my first time here. My daughter and I had lunch there yesterday after sightseeing in DC. She had crab cakes and a chicken pasta dish. I had crab soup and the steak salad. All were DELISH, however my favorite was the Peach Martini-best martini EVER! Everyone was very friendly. It was as if we were regulars. Inside was beautifully decorated. Outside seating was perfect.

Food was delish. Service was great. Had shrimp and grits, oysters, blackened catfish, gumbo and salmon. All very nicely prepared with a skilled hand. Was not expecting the price (thought it would be a bit less expensive) but was well worth the money.
