RecommendedHad some very poor customer service with American Bank Center. Asked for suggestions from friends and family on Facebook, and the majority said Gate City Bank. Set up the account online, got the Debit card when I was able to get to the bank, lobby and employees were all following COVID rules, super friendly service. Called customer service to inquire about online banking, spoke with Megan, she excelled at her job. Very happy with my decision to switch to Gate City 👍

GATE CITY BANK CLOSED MERCY KARBAKER’S CHECKING ACCOUNTS WITHOUT NOTICE!!!!! THEY SAID THEY CLOSED HER ACCOUNT BECAUSE SHE WAS DOING “BUSINESS IN HER CHECKING ACCOUNT.” BLACK PEOPLE DESERVE TO HAVE BANK ACCOUNTS!!! I've said it before, but I'll say it again. A real and sincere shoutout to Gate City Bank for being wonderful. As I posted previously, I had a fraudulent eBay purchase through PayPal that used my debit card number. I ended up getting the nearly $400 dollar product at my house. Long story short... the only one who stood by and did what they said they would do was Gate City. You guys are the absolute worst!!! Your ATM machine ate my Capital One CC yesterday when trying to get cash out! I really needed that cash. I will NEVER do business with GCB again.

I have two bank accounts. I get paid to one account and then transfer my funds to my Gate City Account. This week before I could transfer my funds I had an authorized transaction which caused me to go negative which then caused an insufficient funds penalty. I immediately called the bank and explained what had happened. The guy I spoke to said as soon as the original charge went back into my account they would credit me back the NSF charge. Worst customer experience I've ever had in my life. My mom sent me a money order from her bank in Peoria, Illinois and they treated me like I was a criminal because nobody heard of the bank. With technology, all they had to do is Google the bank and call and verify. Instead of the tellers telling me they needed to verify (which I do understand) they all stood there holding the money order to the light, which was irrelevant because they could just call the bank and verify. DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT AT THIS BANK!!! THEY HAVE NO PROTOCOL SET IN PLACE FOR A FRAUDULENT CHECK! I am not being held responsible for $2200 even though the teller was negligent with the correct protocol. This bank didn't hold the check for even 24hrs. Never verified the funds were even there. The teller never even asked probing questions. The check was for a wayy larger amount then previous deposits and it was an outside check. 1 star is what i give them. March 31st 2020 they had to close my debit card and issue me a new card. I had the NDSU Bison football Card. I told them to just mail it to me and i figured it would've been in the mail today April 8th and nothing so i called to see if they could look to see where it was.
