Dear Home Depot, You win the congenital idiot award for how NOT to handle a customer abusing an employee. Mr. Rucker should have been defended, not fired. Your manager, however should be “seeking other opportunities” immediately. This is not the first time your company has misstepped when handling similar situations. Keep it up and pretty soon only complete jackasses will shop your stores. Good luck making money from them. You will certainly get no more money from me.
I was sad to learn that a 60-year-old employee was fired after being verbally assaulted by a customer who was asked to leash his dog. What is wrong with employers who not only don't support their employees in doing a good job but further victimize them by taking an irate customer's side?! Such shameful behavior on the part of Home Depot, no longer my go-to store!
Not shocked considering how Racist Albany New York is! Its the 21 century let it go! Lowes will be getting all of my money! Home Depot will continue to lose business because of it's racist actions! Boooo you!!�
Your employees are your most valuable assets. You cannot be sending a message that it is okay for customers to abuse your staff in any way shape or form. It is unfortunate that you chose to fire your staff member who had been recently given 'Employee of the Month' because he was doing his job and for that he was verbally attacked. Do not encourage hate, racism or bigotry, that is a POOR reflection of what your company stands for.
I will be buying supplies for my company elsewhere starting tomorrow. Been loyal for 20 years, hell I even did the landscaping 15 years ago. Following company protocol is management code for "we are cowards" if you wont stand up for your employee being degraded why would i think you care about customers. Depending how corporate handles YOU, depends if I use any store again. 84 it is in the morning
The resolution from the incident with Mr. Rucker should include a change in company policy AND management! NO ONE should be allowed to create a hostile work environment, internally or externally! If there was a problem that couldn’t be handled at the current level escalate it to management. Racism is not new but when it is injected as poor customer service, bad business practices or allowed as part of one’s job that is UNACCEPTABLE across the board!
