The best color!! – Luisa is SO AWESOME at color - she will help you find the perfect tone for your skin while giving you the color you want, no matter if you're making a big change or just looking for a little seasonal kick. She's your lady!

favorite haircut ever. – I went to Fringe at the recommendation of a friend, whose haircut from Lisa was amazing. I initially made an appointment with Lisa, but ended up having to reschedule, ultimately getting a session with Amy, the owner. She has a really cool space; from the decor to the music to the friendly greeting with a cup of tea, the experience was comforting and reminded me of a lot of spaces in which I spend my time. And unlike a lot of other hip(ster) salons I've been to, I felt like Amy really listened to ever... read more

i look forward to getting my hair cut. – the salon is fun, the people are awesome and amy gives the best hair cuts. she's cut my long natural curls down my back, every medium length you can imagine, short straight styles and pixie cuts and i've been happy with all of them. when i leave fringe i take some business cards for my wallet because people stop me all the time and ask me where i get my haircut. fringe.

A Lower East Side salon that's hip without the usual pretense, a welcome sight in this overly styled neighborhood – In Short On this still up-and-coming Lower East Side block, Fringe is a breath of fresh air. Its stylist are hip without an ounce of pretention; the industrial-chic space is well coiffed; and the clientele is a mix of trend-setters and neighborhood ladies getting the grey out. The robin's egg blue wall takes on a touch of whimsy as you face the tin ceiling for a wash and notice the few delicately painted songbi... read more

i have been crying all day – i just got my hair butchered at fringe salon. please do not see the owner if you have curly hair. she was scissor happy, distracted and careless about cutting my hair. her straight hairstyles are always very cute. unfortunately her layering technique and lack of restraint while cutting my curls has resulted in the absolute worst haircut i have ever gotten. i can't believe that i will be spending this year waiting for it to grow out after just finally getting it past my shoulders again. heartbreak... read more

Great cut and style – Fringe is an awesome salon. Every time I go for a cut and color I leave feeling confident and beautiful. One of the best things my haircut is that when my hair grows out, it STILL looks amazing. I am at the point where I tell my stylist to do what she wants to do to it because I trust that whatever she does, I will look great. Best hair stylist I have ever had! Everyone in there is really really sweet and friendly! I will never go to another salon! So happy I found it!

Boo – Fringe was recommended to me by a friend. I went in the other day in high hopes to get just a nice shape to my hair, since I was growing it out. I also went through a lot of hair loss in the past two years combined with some bad haircuts, therefore kept it on the shorter side. It had finally gotten longer and recovered, shoulder length, with bangs just below the chin. I even brought a picture of how/similar I wanted it. I also explained how my hair reacts differently to normal weather and humidity, and can go from bein... read more

Great independent salon – I went to Fringe for the first time today after seeing some ads and reading good reviews of their work. At first I was wary, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and I was offered water immediately on arrival. My stylist, Katie, was great and listened to what I wanted; and would clarify with me during the session as to what exactly I wanted. Price is not too bad considering you're in NYC. I also loved that nobody tried to give me the hard-sell on products or other services, which i... read more

Amy gives great cuts – I've gotten my hair cut 5 or 6 times here. Almost every time the cut was absolutely perfect and didn't need a thing done to it for months! I got only one mediocre cut, and that was fixable, since it was under-cut, not over-cut. I definitely would recommend it. The only down side is that it's slowly inching its way out of my price range. That said, if you pay $100 (+ about $15 tip. is that right? what do you guys tip on cuts?) for a cut you don't have to get redone for 4-6 months, then you're probably s... read more
