What a blessing this organization is! My 13 year old will receive the genetic testing she needs for her retinitis pigmentosa because of you! Our insurance company declined the testing as ‘for experimental purposes only, not medically necessary’. Thank you with our whole hearts! I can’t tell you how much this means to all of us!
i'm very grateful because of their efforts for fighting blindness
I want to thank Foundation Fighting Blindness for paying for my husband Gary's genetic testing while at Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor on Wednesday. VA nor Medicare would pay for this testing. Our family is truly blessed and thankful for all who have donated money for this opportunity. This will help with research and hopefully one day provide a cure for people with Retinitis Pigmentosa.
I believe this is a great way to Slaud. We will sign up to walk . My son also is going blind. Iam willing to walk with the fight. My son don't live with me but he is in my heart, together we will walk With amazing outstanding people.
Not only does your #howeyeseeit campaign do real harm by reinforcing already negative perceptions of blindness, perceptions that are not true or accurate, but your attempts to silence criticism of the campaign, criticism from the people you purport to be "helping", is beyond reprehensible.
I have a 26 year old daughter who is totally blind since birth. I believe it is more appropriate to show how blind people deal with these issues rather than an untrained sighted person who is blind folded. Everyday my daughter and our family have dealt with the public's misconception about blindness and low expectation for children who are blind. Please please stress the importance of learning Braille, cane travel, and training in the skills of Blindness.
I hate the doom and gloom of these messages. Medical research on blindness is all well and good, but blindness is not a catastrophe
Wearing a blindfold for a few minutes is not the same as how a blind person lives her life. My friend is a university professor, musician, and mother. Blindness does not impede her life. Period. This is the wrong way to raise awareness.
