You would be wise to avoid living in an Equity Residential apartment, management looks to charge excessive fees wherever they can. Prior to moving out of the apartment I received a letter offering a $120 service to clean my apartment after I moved out. I declined the service and deep cleaned every surface including inside the appliances before moving out, I took pictures of everything anticipating that they might try to charge me. I lived in the apartment for more than three years, which under NYC law, means that the landlor... read more

Please avoid Equity at all costs. This company is the worst management company I have ever dealt with. They mislead tenants. In addition, their properties are in the worst conditions. I warn all potential tenants of the building 3003 Van Ness Apartments in Washington, DC that there is an important rodent infestation in the building. The health authorities are already looking into this, but management does not inform prospective tenants, and tenants are getting trapped in this situation, like me.

Avoid at all costs. We lived at Equity for 1 year, and they took more than $700 from our deposit when we moved out (deposit was $1300). When we moved into Cleo a year ago, we were informed by Tenicia Mapp, the on-site manager, that we would not be charged for normal wear and tear, and that we would only be charged for $300 for the cleaning of the apartment. When we did the pre-move out inspection. I made sure to ask if there's anything that we should clean. The inspector said the apartment was in good condition and said ther... read more

Having lived at *** **** ***for well over a year we are looking forward to the day we move out. From the constant elevator out of order issues, to fire alarms for no apparent reason except lack of maintenance to nickel and dime for everything. Don’t suggest you rent here unless you want to be aggravated.

I have been renting at ******** Apts, for 10 Months. This is a smoke free apartment complex. I have an infant which was born with lung problems. The marijuana smoke has leeched into my apartment on many occasions. I have filed a complaint every single time which is over 30 times. They have yet to handle the problem. Things have gotten phyiscal with the other tenant and threatened the livelihood of my family. I have asked repeatedly to simply move him or move me more than willing, I was assured that wouldn't be necessary. MY ... read more

Terribly ran apartment (Helios Seattle), from constantly broken to elevators to rude staff. Rental payment portal frequently reflects incorrect amount and leaves it a guessing game to pay (due to lack of response from staff when advising of error) else receive heavily inflated late fees and threats. Will be filing formal complaint. Advise seeking leasing services elsewhere.

Business response:

While we are sorry to hear that you feel this way, we appreciate you voicing your concerns. Our team strives to provide the best in customer service and we regret it if we have not been able to achieve that for you. We have alerted Regional Management of your concerns and they will be reaching out to you as soon as possible. Thank you.

Equity Residential has crossed the legal line and committed criminal acts of harassment. They are illegally running a property management company without a real estate license which is required by law. They will eventually get sued and be forced to pay a huge amount of money for there illegal conduct.

My ****** review says it all. This is not a good company to do business with, I sent an inquiry to ****** ******** Apartments in Los Angeles managed by this company asking about the pricing, credit qualifications, income qualifications and security deposit amount only to get a response from an employee named Dale ***** with the subject line Wait list closed. He advised that the Wait list for affordable housing was closed. I responded what are you talking about and then finally got him on the phone. He was rude and talked ove... read more

called and left a voicemail to get in touch with corporate yesterday, November 28th. For the purposes of corrective action and reconciliation, please forward or provide the best contact to address this to. We’ve dealt with multiple on site representatives and have not been assisted the way we deserve to be and quite frankly, it’s frustrating to get a hold of anyone else who can breakdown and detail point by point what we need to rectify everything (past and current). From inception, I have laid out issues/problems up until t... read more
