Last night was my first visit to this restaurant. I'm not from this area. I totally enjoyed all the food and service . So nice to have a great dining experience doesn't happen much these days... I WILL BE A REGULAR NOW. VERY GOOD !!
Where to start. Let's try 1977 neighbor took me along with his two sons, shortly after my Spanish teacher took a few of us to culture ourselves she said. Been every year since and most every month in between. Usually 2-3 times a month has been 3 times a week.. Now did I mention it's a 72 mile round trip just for this! First 10 yrs only ate #3 finally figured there was other items. The original (hot) sauce is my favorite along with chili ray and taco.
I love this family owned restaurant. Try the guacamole. You won't be disappointed.

Was there Saturday night. Chile Rellenos are the absolute best! Stuffed jalapeños are to die for. My only complaints would be that the red sauce is a bit too tomato-ee and almost an Italian taste..and the hostess that night could have been friendlier..she took us to our table, tossed the menus down, and walked away, without giving us a chance to say thank you. Don't think she knew how to smile..other than that we have always enjoyed our meals at ElMatador..love the quiet, quaint atmosphere. Will certainly return.
Best Mexican food your money can buy in the upstate!!!!!!!
I don't come as much as I should, but every time the food and service is phenomenal.... thanks to David for making everyone who walks in feel welcome!
