I always appreciate this preserve. We saw a Coyote last year, what a treat.

My daughter has trouble walking without assistance and we survived walking the Natomas route to the river and back. This nature center is perfect for parents interested in taking their kiddos for a nature walk and a few paths seem to accommodate some special needs strollers with the ability to manage different terrains, as well as most infant/toddler strollers, with minor to moderate difficulty. We love coming here with our "almost" five year old son. There are opportunities to see wildlife around every corner. The trails are pretty easy and none are too long. We have found we can do two or three of the loops before our kiddo needs to be carried. There is a pond, river views (you can go down to the river's edge), meadows and lots of beautiful trees.

Visited Effie Yeaw Nature yesterday, and what a great experience I was treated to. Arriving at the Nature Center with a few photography friends we observed two coyotes feeding on a fresh deer kill. It was an amazing thing to observe, the interaction between them and the Turkey Vultures that were patiently waiting their turn to feed.
