I have had a few psychiatrist treat me for my depression, this guy has to be the worst. During our sessions he never looks up from his computer doesn’t really listen to what I have to say doesn’t really talk to me about much the only thing I hear from him is when he moves his rear up from the chair and pass gas. He kept prescribing different antidepressants none of which actually worked many of which had side effects or worse than my depression. After spending hours in his office waiting for him to actually call me in for my... read more

DR. WINEGARDEN SAVED MY LIFE AND IS MY HERO! Let me share my story. Beginning in my twenties, I became overcome with depression and anxiety. As my life moved on, I learned to live with the sadness and despair. For me, there was no way out. This is the way I lived for many years until I began seeing a Clinical Nurse Specialist. I had plenty of talk therapy, was prescribed medications, and got in on time to my appointments. My years of meetings with this provider led me to one place. Fairview Hospital’s psychiatric floor and D... read more

STAY AWAY! Dr. Winegarden treated me when I was inpatient at Fairview Southdale Hospital. Unfortunately, I also saw him twice for follow up appointments. Definitely heed the warnings to stay away from him. His chronic lateness is the least concerning of his inappropriate behaviors. I have been treated by various psychiatrists for depression and anxiety for over 20 years and never have I encountered anyone as unprofessional as Dr. Winegarden is. When requesting records, his front desk staff were very slow to provide them and ... read more

Worst experience I have EVER had in dealing with ANYBODY! I would never recommend this so-called Doctor to my worst enemy. He has a superiority complex and many issues that he needs to address in regard to his own mental state. He can come off as being nice if he wants, but it's fake. I can't rate him because There is not a minus 10 rating on this site.

Ate his lunch during the whole visit and really could have cared less towards the issues I was facing. Saying that this guy is unprofessional is an understatement.

I first met Dr Tom as a patient in treatment at Hazelden. He was compassionate, prescribed Trazadone for sleep and depression. I took these meds for about 15 years. IThe "appointments" with this doctor became intorable..waiting over an hour, him eating and playing on his computer. He would spend most of the appt. talking about his family issues, political beliefs with very little time regarding my health. Then last time I went, the RX dosage was mistakenly written to 2+ the dose I had been on for over 10 years. I was paying ... read more

He is always super late. He also prescribed a med to me that has known major drug interactions with a med I was already on.

My daughter was hospitalized 2 years ago. Dr Winegarden was arrogant, know it all, put her on loads of serequal. Turns out she had brain scarring in the alert part of her brain due to past surgical infection, causing her to have trouble staying awake (found that out with MRI done by neurologist). I cannot believe Fairview continues to employ him. I tell everyone I know NOT to ever go to Fairview SD psychiatric ward as you may get Dr Winegarden and he will do more harm than good. He loves his power and gets sadistic satisfact... read more
