As a performing jazz pianist, my hands are my life. When my hands need help, I put them into Dr. Kaufmann's healing hands.

Have been a patient of Dr. Kaufmann for years. He is knowledgeable and surgeries have been successful. He has always been very polite and I have enjoyed our conversations. I would highly recommend him. He's the best and it shows with many patients coming and going. So, if I have to wait a little longer, because of his high volume of patients, that's fine with me.

Dr. Kaufman has been treating my surgery needs for RA related issues and has demonstrated time and again there is a reason why he is the best hand/elbow surgeon in Pittsburgh period. I would highly recommend anyone with issues in that part of the body run for his help. You will be pleased with the results. To those who think his bedside manners are less that "admirable" i suggest you wake up and understand he has hundreds of patients and follows thru on pre and post operative requirements. I was transported by ambulance from a local hospital to Oakland with severe arm / wrist damage from a circular saw accident 2 years ago. Our local hospital was ill-equipped to deal with such trauma. While waiting for surgery, I was informed how fortunate I was to be seen by Dr. Kaufmann as he was the surgeon perfect for my injuries. I can honestly say two years later I have almost the entire range I had before severing all of my extensor tendons, ulnar nerve, etc. I had no problem with his recording device, his manners, his ... read more

I would definitely recommend Dr. Kaufmann. Great doctor. Staff at front desk can be rude but he is great. He answered all my questions and concerns both before and after my surgeries.

FIrst of all, in reference to the comments about Dr Kaufmann being rude. You don't have to loaf with him... I first saw Dr Kaufmann 2 years ago after having steroid injections in my left elbow area and finding no relief. The tendons were torn from the bone and he was able to reattach them. Prior to surgery, my range of motion and extension were extremely limited. Today my arm is strong, and I am able to extend my arm normally. 2 weeks ago, he performed arthroscopic surgery on my wrist and also performed a carpal tunnel relea... read more

Dr. Kaufmann is a physician I would recommend to anyone needing surgery on their hand/wrist. I had a full scapholunate ligament tear and he was able to perform what I have researched to be a very very difficult surgery with great success. I am a young person and have not had any medical issues before this one, however he helped me through the ordeal by explaining everything along the way and giving me the support and answered questions I needed. He truly is a proffesional and a master of his trade. He showed thought and care... read more

Dr. Kaufmann was rude, condescending, belittling, arrogant and dismissive with me when I went for my post-op visit and had ongoing issues and questioned him about my concerns. He didn't answer any of my questions, acted like I wasn't even speaking to him and started talking into his recorder in the same rude and belittling way he spoke to me. He didn't even care that I was in the room listening to him. It was very humiliating and I was in tears by the time I got to my car. He told me my surgery was successful despite my issue... read more
