I went in and was treated poorly. Waited for 45+ minutes beyond my appointment time. Then after being taken back Dr. West pulled up my lip to inject the anesthetic. It was more painful than the injection of the needle or any other needle for that matter. I was never talked to about the diagnosis. I asked questions, but only recieved the answers - no further explanation. My referring dentist had to call and find out what the prognosis was. I would not recommend Dr. West. He was arrogant and had poor bed-side manners!
I was nervous going into my appointment but Dr West and his staff made me feel comfortable. I had no pain with the root canal and actually went out to dinner with my family that night. Dr West goes to extream lengths to make sure every step is done perfectly with digital xrays to verify accuracy. He called me that evening to see how I was feeling. I really like it when Dr's take time out of their lives to check on their patients.
I have not had a major root canal like the one I had in March-April 2006 so I had no experience to compare it to. Apparently it was a very troublesome one that baffled everyone, including Dr. West. Each time I had to go back in because of that one little complicated tooth and its unwillingness to cooperate - when all it would do was continue to swell and cause trouble - every member of Dr. West's staff treated me with care and respect and the office became my second home for a time. I have had two surgeries for one of my teeth for root canal. It is still painful. The caring staff and the state of the art equipments do not really matter. To me anyway. I went two times to have it rechecked but all they said was just to wait and see if the pain will subside. Well, it has been a year and the pain has not gone. So, I will look for another endodontist to further treat my tooth. But overall, Dr. West is a caring and sweet doctor. It is just I have a stubborn case of root canal problem, I guess.
