I can’t praise the staff at the ‘ Welcome Wednesday’ and ‘Friendship Friday’ enough. I took my Auntie who is 95 and has had a very difficult year, losing her husband and sister( the last of her generation)within months of each other. She has been getting lower and lower into a depression that I feared she wouldn’t recover from, she was fed up and had no life, every day was the same as her mobility is very bad. It’s taken me 18months before writing this status but in late December 2023 my father in law was in need of hospice care, the palliative care team and doctors put a request through to Dove house and we were told there was a space. The nhs staff told us Dove house would call. After 3 days we heard nothing so gave them a call direct. In for 4 days respite care as end of life. It's like being home and on a 5 star holiday at the same time. Every single member of staff are like a loving caring family.
Ad a tour round the hospice loved it
The majority really did a great job, especially the nursing staff and giving us further support to be with my mum. The majority made sure to make us feel comfortable throughout our stay. I have to admit I'm awkward to be around when I'm slowly adjusting to the grief and i try to hide it which doesnt work all the time. Usually getting blindsided with rudeness from staff perpetuate my already low mood and they're one from every department (therapy, consultants and catering staff scecifically).
