Our Business Goal To educate the general public on the historical geology of the Appalachian Mountains, how they were formed and what can be found here. Doc's Rocks Gem Mine is an Appalachian Mountain based gemstone mining operation. We purchase mine ore by the ton from local gemstone mines located in North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee. My boyfriend and I had a great time mining! The guys working were knowledgeable and friendly. I look forward to getting my Amazonite stone polished so I can have great memories when I wear it!! Do yourself a favor and bring everyone here! Adults and children will love it!!

Had a great time! Found large gemstones that I made into jewelry (extra cost but worth it). Staff was wonderful! Panning prices were very reasonable.

I have been trying to plan a trip for about 2 years to visit this place. Totally worth it! The staff really knows what they're talking about.
I read all the great reviews on Yelp before we decided to drive to Doc's Rocks Gem Mine and we were not dissapointed. We all had a great time with my family. Staff is really helpful and highly qualfied so you can learn a lot and have fun at the same time. I will definetely be back next year. This year we had a medium bucket and ended up having few nice looking gems including beautiful amethyst and a fossil.
We had an AWESOME time looking for rocks in the stream with Doc. He is so knowledgeable and everyone found some really cool rocks! We made the 3 hr drive just to do this and it was so worth it! We also bought a small bucket for gem mining. We were amazed by the size and amount of cool finds in our bucket. We noticed everyone was having the same luck too! So worth it! My daughter has already asked to go back next summer. And we will definitely be doing that! I just can't say enough positives about this place!
