Our Business Goal To educate the general public on the historical geology of the Appalachian Mountains, how they were formed and what can be found here. Doc's Rocks Gem Mine is an Appalachian Mountain based gemstone mining operation. We purchase mine ore by the ton from local gemstone mines located in North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee. Doc's Rocks is the best gem mine in the area. All minerals are from the Appalachian region, and even some Miocene era fossils from the coast of NC. Their buckets are reasonably priced, and they will even cut your finds into gemstones to be set into jewelry! You can even see them cutting right in front of you! There are plenty of specimens in the shop and tons of ready made jewelry and gifts. The staff is super friendly and well educated on the specimens you find. Have many nice necklaces from there from a vacation in 2011 or so. Wife and kids had a great time.
This place is legit! Authentic gemstones in every bucket, not purposefully placed stones in dirt like the other places here. It's family run and operated by very friendly and knowledgeable folks. Great for all ages! Highly recommend!! Best prices around. We even went twice in two days! Thank you for a memorable visit.
