Our Business Goal To educate the general public on the historical geology of the Appalachian Mountains, how they were formed and what can be found here. Doc's Rocks Gem Mine is an Appalachian Mountain based gemstone mining operation. We purchase mine ore by the ton from local gemstone mines located in North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee. 9yr old daughter and I am took a mountain trip Halloween weekend and Doc's was on our list of things to do. She had a ball. They were patient and courteous. They gave us a little history, explained thoroughly how things worked, and answered our questions. My daughter came away with some knowledge and great gems; and she proudly shared with her class the following week. Thanks Doc's.
Four adults playing in mud and gunk ... it was the best . My son, daughter in law, boyfriend and I had the best time. The staff where all very nice and helpful we loved it
I love to come here and dig for gems! I haven't been in a couple years but it's still the same great experience. We found a nice size lot if gems too. My son is 4 and he had a blast looking for "rocks". I highly recommend coming here whether you are on vacation or a local.
I always go to Doc's Rocks when we go to Blowing rock. I love this place & all the reasonably priced Gem stones!
