Mechanic-turned-grillmaster Gene Porter turns out Southern barbecue and down-home ambiance in the land of high technology. Dixie's optional "The Man" sauce is about as hot as sauce comes, so go easy; meals have been ruined here by unwary applications. The already spicy, already delicious barbecue doesn't really need the boost. Order Ribs, Chicken or a Brisket Sandwich with Southern diner sides like beans and rice, potato salad, baked beans and corn bread. And don't forget iced tea to soothe the burn. This place can draw a cr... read more

Whatta waste... – I have to agree with sipatrick. I've eaten at some of the worst BBQ's around, and this takes the cake. Either it is tasteless crap, or tasteless fire. The only positive thing I can say about it is that its profile keeps crowding at the REAL BBQ restaurants down.
The Shame of Dixie... – As a chef and a North Carolinian - who has eaten his share of actual BBQ - I could not possibly agree less. This place slings badly-cooked, fatty, poorly-seasoned crap, served with the pastiest, gummiest mass-produced bread they can buy, featuring that stupid, pointless battery-acid of a sauce they call "The Man"; a silly, flavorless test-of-manhood sauce composed of equal parts crushed red chiles and bad judgement. Yuck! One time in your life, eat at Old Lexington #1 in Lexington, NC, Stamey's in Gre... read more
Exellent for Seattle BBQ – Coming from KC where there is REAL BBQ, I think Dixies is as close as Seattle folks can come to what makes BBQ work! The Surly staff make the charm of eating this type of food (it is not haute cuisine, for heavens sake!!!). The grease is flavorful and the sides are great accents!! My favorite place west of BB's Lawnside BBQ!
Not Even – This is not even the 4th best Q in the area. It's a good thing that the criteria is "mouth numbing" and not good tasting! The meat is too fatty, over cooked (seems boiled rather than barbequed), the sauce is more like hot tomato water. I'm not sure that they'd allow this to be sold in Louisiana. If so, where so I can avoid it. Try Jones BBQ on MLK and Hudson. This is real Louisiana style BBQ!! Oh, and it comes in mild, hot, and painful (all very tasty and with lean meat).
Horrible Food and Service – This is one of the worst places I have ever eaten at. The service is terrible with ignorant waiting staff with zero tolerance. The food also is not worth the money as it is basically just barbecued food you could make at home and is not neary as good as any other food you would pay for. Forget the hype about the "man" sauce and do yourself a favor and skip this con..
Food is based on dare! – Dixie's food is greasy and the establishment is run down. The MAN sause is hot and that's it! No intriguing flavors and the BBQ sauce was nothing to rave about. Typical OK BBQ Place!
Back Home in Dixie – I am from east Texas and have lived in Lousiana. While the people at Dixie's are truly nice and friendly, their barbeque is not what one expects. If you want authentic tasting barbeque, try Pecos. It's worth the drive and the wait.
Roadkill – This barbeque is God awful. It tastes like road kill. Not to mention his employees are very rude as well. If you want real barbeque, this place isn't it.
Best BBQ – Unlike 3 pigs and other "bar b que" this isnt that overly sweet trash that texans pass off as bar b que, this is real Lousianna style and it is GREAT! Only eat it if you like good food, and your not a dirty texan.
