Mechanic-turned-grillmaster Gene Porter turns out Southern barbecue and down-home ambiance in the land of high technology. Dixie's optional "The Man" sauce is about as hot as sauce comes, so go easy; meals have been ruined here by unwary applications. The already spicy, already delicious barbecue doesn't really need the boost. Order Ribs, Chicken or a Brisket Sandwich with Southern diner sides like beans and rice, potato salad, baked beans and corn bread. And don't forget iced tea to soothe the burn. This place can draw a cr... read more

The Man is overrated – Dixie's is fine. If you don't mind standing in line for crappy food and poor service. It is fun to watch everybody get harassed while they eat.
Yuck! – I'm sorry, but being a native Tennessee girl, I think this food is an embarrasment to BBQ. I like Gene and his act is fun, but I'd never go back for the food. I'm afraid that some folks'd eat dirt and say they like it if they thought it was the hip thing to do. "Emperor's New Clothes" and all that. I'd bet the farm on the fact that you take Dixie's BBQ to a blind tasting and folks'd be singin' a whole different tune on this "fabulous" food.
Great food, and the owner and his wife make the joint, Oh yea I met the MAN!
Tasted like the food was cooked in the sauce rather than being basted. Greasy, fatty texture to meats.
burn ya better – Hot dam, this hot sauce will curl anyones tounge. Food is great if you go little to none on the sauce(The Man) if you load up on the Man you won't be tastting anything else (for awhile). A burn that sticks sround for the next day. Corn bread can't be beat, sweet potatoe pie is great, get there on wednesday so you can try the BBQ beans. And you best know what you want before you get to the counter.
The BBQ Nazi? – The service can be a little on the strict side, but that just adds to the atmosphere at Dixie's. Food worth standing in line an hour for! All of the side dishes are worth extra money, and the lemon cake is to die for. Never had anything there I didn't like.
Where's the BBQ???? – I went to Dixies for the first time after hearing all the hype. Once I got there, there was a long lunch line. I was thinking this is going to be great stuff. Food sucks. Ribs are fatty and boiled with tons of bbq sauce poured over them. Aren't ribs supposed to be bbqed on a grill? I felt so gross after eating them. I'm not an expert on southern bbq but I know terrible food when I eat it.
This isn't "BBQ" – Seattleites obviously don't know BBQ. This stuff is nothing more than stewed meat. I read the reviews, and being a BBQ fanatic, took my wife and had lunch. I even had some of the "Man." This bears no resemblance to real BBQ, infact it is terrible as food in general. The owner is great and worth a visit. Eat only if you have to.
that's some good eatin' – I've been going to dixies for more than 5 years and will contnue to go as long as I live in washington. For bbq in the northwest this is as good as it gets!
