Mechanic-turned-grillmaster Gene Porter turns out Southern barbecue and down-home ambiance in the land of high technology. Dixie's optional "The Man" sauce is about as hot as sauce comes, so go easy; meals have been ruined here by unwary applications. The already spicy, already delicious barbecue doesn't really need the boost. Order Ribs, Chicken or a Brisket Sandwich with Southern diner sides like beans and rice, potato salad, baked beans and corn bread. And don't forget iced tea to soothe the burn. This place can draw a cr... read more

I, too, met The Man. – A friend "in the know" took us there. Yum! The beef ribs were huge, and I took just a bit of sauce, thinking it would be sweet and icky. Nope: smoky and yummy and I wish I had gotten more. The lemon cake is really yummy as well, and when you order drinks, get the special Root Beer from Oregon, can't be beat! "The Man" will melt styrofoam, or stomach lining at the very least.
A taste of the south – Dixie's offers southern flavor in the food and the atmosphere, but not much in the way of hospitality. The staff is abrupt and irritated; requests are not made but orders are given, e.g., "I need YOU to take your hands off the glass." But this is a refreshing change in the age of retailers who are so helpful and friendly you want to throw up. The people at Dixie's are real. If you like good, down-home-cooked food, it's worth the trip; if you have a slight masochism streak, it's the only place to go.
Dixie's is the best – Great food, interesting people, crummy dinning area. Don't let him put the "the Man" on your sandwich, instead ask him to put it on the side. Be sure and try the corn-bread
Overrated – This place is trendy only because it's convenient for large numbers of high-tech folks. It's not the best BBQ you can get for your money. And "the man" you have to meet is hot enough to cause permanent damage to your taste buds. It's just too damned hot. The meat itself is ok, but nothing to write home about. The folks there are very nice and friendly but it doesn't make up for so-so BBQ.
A bit overblown – Yeah Yeah, The MS Techies love it because they like to see how "manly" they are by chugging the hot sauce. However, despite how charming the owner is, it is not great barbecue. It's good greasy spoon barbecue. But for taste, Texas Smokehouse does it much better. Cheers.
it's all about the sauce – Be careful, the sauce is delicious, but hotter than hell! The best part about Dixie's is the experience of it all... setting is an old car repair garage, man with sauce walking from table to table, an unexpected picnic delight.
Hated it. – Dixie's BBQ is flavorless and worst BBQ that I've ever eaten. The only thing that Dixie's has going for it is "The Man", which is extremely hot, but also flavorless. The only reason native Seattlites like it is because they've never had anything better.
dog food – They call it Louisiana BBQ because that's what they feed to dogs in the South. I don't how they found meat of that poor quality.
Yuck! – The food is served like they are doing you a favor and the food is unattractive, stale tasting, overcooked and soggy.
