I reached out to Cary ******** of Cornerstone Home Lending on February 7, 2020 to inform him my family and friends had been reaching out to our local office in San Antonio TX with no response. My sister has a mortgage with Cornerstone and wanted to refinance at a lower rate and had been leaving at least 3 - 4 messages with no return calls. This company is a fraud and a TOTAL joke. I will say the buying process was almost painless but everything from the moment we closed has been an absolute nightmare. Shortly after buying our current home our state was involved in a FEMA declared natural disaster, water was leaking in our home and our source of income had stopped as no one was able to work. Bought my first home via Cornerstone Home Lending. During the loan process I was told to set up my own home insurance. Once i got a quote and had everything ready, my loan officer told me that they provided insurance for me and that I needed to cancel what i had set up. So thinking they were the "experts" (con artist, or idiots would more accurately describe them) i moved forward and closed the loan. My experience with Cornerstone was one of the worst experiences of my life. I am not a *********e person, but after what I just had to go through, everyone needs to know what they put me through. I honestly wish that they had a zero rating because that’s what they deserve. My husband went through loopholes after loopholes, paid all what was asked of him only to get denied 7 days before we about to close on the house over his income that he already proven and provide documentation that he had. Horrible experience from day one. I was told my mortgage would have a balloon payment and signed the documents at closing. A bit later, SURPRISE! no balloon! I re-signed the paperwork and somehow lost it FROM AN EMAIL so I had to send it again. My homeowners insurance lapsed in the first year because they didn't send the payment. Anytime I called them I always felt like they didn't want to talk to me and just wanted to get me off the phone. This a lousy company to deal with. They make things more stressful than what needs to be. It was my fault for continueing with the loan process with them. Told several times do not send me anything thru my email. Of course everything came thru email. They were charging me with fees that is not allowed under VA. I had to argue with them over that. We currently have a home loan with this business and sent two checks (from day one) from two accounts for a total over the amount of the statement and after a year of doing this, this March they only accredited one of the checks toward our account. They lost one of our checks. They never found the other one after a week of investigating. It cost me $40 to stop payment on that other check plus we had to send another pmnt to them to cover for this month. I'm not happy with them.
