Heather Smith, Cornerstone Mortgage Loan officer in Austin was not very responsive with answering and returnig phone calls to customers. She did not possess the quality and personality to be in this Mortgage servicing business.

Cornerstone sold my loan to another servicer after I made my first payment. Except they apparently didn’t tell the new servicer the effective date, so now both companies are telling me I’m supposed to pay them. Cornerstone even transferred my first payment I made in June to the new company after I called trying to figure out what was going on, but now my online account shows I owe that money to them again! I love in wisconsin and had applied for a WHEDA first-time home buyer program mortgage with down-payment assistance. I was told by a lender that I was pre-approved contingent on employment verification. I got the pre-approval letter and everything. The day after I attempted to put in an offer on a house I got a call saying that I am not approved unless I can come up with $5000. I now have no funding, had to pull my offer, and I can't go through the process again because it'll drop my credit score. I now have to wait 3-6mo. f... read more

Cornerstone Home Lending New Jersey is the worst mortgage servicer. I gave one star because there is no option for zero star. Horrible overall service including customer service. This mortgage servicer does not have the customer's interest at heart. Cornerstone Home Lending only cares about the interest the customer pays. Cornerstone transferred my mortgage to another servicer without informing me. The mortgage was transferred in August 2022, and I received 1098 from this servicer last month. this is the worst company i have ever used , they are not able to maintain my account, for months they have been put someone elses documents in my account, every time i tried to iron that out they wouldnt believe, then transfered me to Texas branch and now they send the statement late every month , now they have sold me to another bank thank goodness, good bye cornerstone,, i really do not even want to give one star,,

Cornerstone doesn’t report mortgages to Experian anymore. As a result our credit dropped 30-40 points. We have made several attempts to contact them with no change even though they say it will. We will find someone else among the hundreds of companies in the near future

Within a few months of closing on my mortgage they transferred/sold it to *** *********. My loan was conventional A paper but they sold it to the absolute worst servicer in the whole industry. They didn’t even warm me. If you close a mortgage through Cornerstone you could also end up wrestling with customer service at *** **********
