Buyers who will be using assumable mortgages (e.g. VA) beware! If it is ever possible you will exercise the Assumption option on your mortgage, choose another lender to finance with! I went under contract with a buyer in early May 2022 to transfer my mortgage. Cornerstone's Assumptions office (which is apparently a third-party servicer, but represents Cornerstone) can not be reached via phone and generally takes a week to respond to emails, if ever. The harassment is none stop! I received 4 letters in 1 day stating that my insurance was no longer active due to none payment and that they would be adding their own insurance that was almost 3xs as much! My insurance is rolled into my mortgage payment and isn't due for 5 more months! They have "lost" MULTIPLE payments in the mail AND over the phone (still don't understand that one). We didn't choose Cornerstone it was the company the brokers worked with. If we had known then what we know now we would not have walked we would have run! We started a process on April 1, 2022 for a buyer to assume our VA loan. Our mortgage is serviced through the New Jersey office. Their assumptions department does not take phone calls at all. Apparently agents aren't aware of this as they keep giving you or transferring you to phone numbers that are disconnected. Then you call back again and get "I'm sorry I don't work in ... read more
I am sickened to see the review from ******* * just ten days ago which almost mirrors my exact complaint. Yes, the loan process was painless and my loan officer fabulous. But, of my fourteen $2900 payments, only 13 show on the website and only 13 show to the MANY representatives I've spoken with. Getting through the loan processing was excellent. Now processing payments, their service has been horrible!!! Cornerstone hast lost one of our payments made in August 2021. The customer service department has sent me through multiple merry go rounds with no resolution. We have provided all their demands for proof of payments, sending through to the supposed research dept. Still no resolution!!! Our credit hx has been affected. They are applying late fees.
