An iconic ineresting historical left over from an earlier age of water works for the King...King Henry VIII. Its remarkable how much trouble they took to construct it, partly with salvaged ecclesiastical stones from the dissolution of the Monasteries.

If you enjoy Tudor history, this is fascinating. This serves as Coombe Hill's water gathering hub, directing multiple springs into this place. It used to feed into two lead pipes that went to Hampton Court via a Kingston, under Norbiton Station, down the hill, and across the riverbed. About three miles away. The two well houses connected by an underground tunnel. It's good to see, but not much. From April through September, it is only open on one weekend per month. Fascinating if you like Tudor history. This is the centre of water collection on Coombe Hill, channelling several springs to a central reservoir. From here it used to feed into two lead pipes which ran down the hill, under Norbiton Station, through a Kingston and across the river bed to Hampton Court. Around three miles distant.
