About this business

In keeping with the typical cookshop concept of all-things-fresh, co-owners of Cookshop, Chef Marc Meyer and Chef Vicki Freeman, source local ingredients and produce for their food preparation. To bring out the best taste from the natural food, traditional methods such as wood-fired ovens are used. The Virginia farmers’ cross center cut pork chop and the wilted spinach, red onion and Sarvecchio cheese pizza are favorites here. The cocktails are innovative concoctions with a twist that change with the season. Try the te... read more

The Best Place in the Neighborhood--Bar None! – Cookshop is my go-to restaurant on the West Side. Not just the Way West Side, but the entire West Side. Let's start with the lunch menu: Cookshop has arguably the best burger in New York City. Juicy, and covered with bacon, the pickled onions are just right. and the spicy fries...oh the spicy fries. This burger is only outshown by the pizza of the day and beet salad with DiPalo's ricotta. My 7 year old son who won't touch a vegetable even eats the beet salad. when i am watching... read more

Perfect spot for both a romantic meal and business lunch – I love Cookshop. My family moved back down to Chelsea a few years ago and literally jumped up and down when we heard the team from Five Points was opening a place near us. It did not /does not disappoint. The food is always flavorful and fresh, the staff friendly and professional. We have even brought our kids in for brunch a few times (when it's slow and we can deal with three year old twins at a restaurant) and we felt totally comfortable. Its a great spot for a ro... read more

never a bad meal – I've always had a wonderful time at Cookshop. I usually like to check out new places, but Cookshop is my go-to in Chelsea when I want a comforting meal. And since the menu is seasonal, there are always fantastic surprises in the specials. Always a nice combination of the known and the new. The staff are complete sweethearts and I've never been treated in any way but wonderfully.

What a great neighborhood restaurant. – I went there for brunch this last week. They have this great outdoor patio. The staff was so friendly and very knowledgable about the food. I had a great time all around.

Feel of home – Last night I had to meet a friend from out of town on short notice. I picked this place because people have been talking about it... and I couldn't think of anywhere else at the moment. The staff and food all turned out to be professional and well mannered. The room is warm and comforting and feels open. Even though we didn't have reservations the Maitre d politely explained that she would find us a table. That turned out to be fine because my friend and I had a nice chat at the bar. I felt like I was back in ... read more

Avoid ... disappointing management ! – Complete disappointment ! I had heard quite a bit about this restaurant. Read the reviews & wanted to try it. Around 5pm on a sunny afternoon I stopped by for a working lunch/dinner. I had my laptop w/ me & needed to charge so I asked for a seat close to an outlet & sat next to the window. The manager came over & moved me to another table facing the wall and asked me to disconnect my laptop. At the time the place was empty: out of the roughly 20 tables in the vicinity, three were taken ... read more

If you DON'T want customer service this is the place for you! – My family eats out in Manhattan 4-5 times a week and we were looking forward to Cookshop for a family get together. We arrived early and the place was empty and they still wouldn't seat us before our entire group arrived. We were then seated near the oven on a summer evening which was extremely hot. We asked to change our seat to the table next to ours and it took a full 10 minutes for them to decide if this was ok while we stood around waiting. The other group ... read more
