Built in 1934, the main building functioned as a nursing home for over 50 years. This is the tale of two visits and two diners. Our first visit a few years ago was amazing. Last night was a different story for me. My wife loved her dinner, I did not. We started with soups. She had the corn bisque, I had the baked potato. My soup was tasteless, other than the few pieces of bacon it could have been water. I never knew this place existed until a few weeks ago. This is THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN SAVANNAH! The waiter was above and beyond wonderful! The Chefs skills were unbelievable! He even came out and wished my 10 year old daughter a HAPPY BIRTHDAY � FROM THE TIME WE WALKED IN UNTIL WE LEFT THE PARKING LOT WE WERE TREATED LIKE ROYALTY! EXCELLENCE IN EACH DEPARTMENT. THANK YOU FIR MAKING MY DAUGHTERS NIGHT UNFORGETTABLE! �
Met there for lunch today and had very poor service. Although our menu had been preselected and prepaid since July we still had to wait for nearly two hours for the appetizers. I left after two hours without being served the entree or dessert. Looked like a case of poor management.
Our server Louis, was very knowledgeable about the menu and the facility. His service was impeccable! We got a real history lesson. Kudos to the chef! The food was delicious and fresh. We had the Shrimp corn chowder, Fried Duck, Lobster and crab mac and cheese, and the Grouper! Beautiful place where you can eat great food and buy one of a kind wares from local artists.
