Coal Vines Pizza

4.3

About this business

Coal Vines is a fantastic restaurant/wine bar in the heart of Uptown. With its coal-burning oven, this is probably the closest you will come to authentic New York pizza. The menu includes such delectable items as Pizzas, Spiced Salmon Salad, Salad Pies, which are served cold and by the slice, Eggplant Milanese Sandwich, Veal & Pepper Rolls, and amazing deserts like Tiramisu Float. Wine is available by the glass or bottle. The décor is upscale and it's easy to forget that everything on the menu is cheap.

Best pizza in Dallas – I love Coal Vines and think it's the best pizza in Dallas! It is a bit small so I usually do take-out. I order at the bar and try a different glass of wine each visit while I wait for my pizza. The pizzas are huge and the prices are right!

Pizza is okay, small place with a very 'blah' staff – I decided to have lunch there despite the reviews I had read. It is VERY small and tight, to the point that your server is standing thisclose to you when serving the table next to you. The staff seems very 'blah'... just not smiley or thrilled to be working. But hey, I guess thats better than rude. Pizza was okay. Nothing great by any means.

Coal Vines - Stay Away at all costs! – Do whatever it takes to stay away from this place! The place is too small to accomodate. What you need to do is pull up in front and if all tables are taken then leave immediately and go elsewhere. Otherwise you are in for a nightmare! The manager/hostess seats people not based on the wait list but on her own preference. Your 30 - 45 minute wait may end up being alot longer especially if you are running up a bar tab while you wait. The more you spend at the bar the longer your wait may ... read more

Don't waste your time! – The service was extremely bad. The pizza looks good but the taste is like Wonder Bread. The only bright spot is the wine but you can get that elsewhere. Save your time and all the bad attitude by going elsewhere. I recommend Fireside Pies instead.

Good pizza, great atmosphere – Good little pizza place, and now that the weather isnt 100 degrees you can eat outside and get a table. it gets packed at dinner time most nights, but the extra outdoor seating this time of year has really helped. Good place for lunch, not too crowded.

DON"T GO........Should be Renamed from Coal Vines to "COLD Vines" – This was the worst dinning experience I have ever had in over 10 years in Dallas. The wait was quoted as 45 minutes to 1 hour which is typical in Dallas on a Saturday night. However, there is no real waiting list. The Asian woman maitre d could not control all of the irate customers. She just started ignoring everyone and trying to call out on the phone in the bar. People just started clearing the own tables and sitting down. We spent $150 on wine while wait... read more

Absolute worst service in the western hemisphere!!! – I had received mixed reviews about Cole Vines from my colleagues, so I thought I might formulate an opinion based on personal experience. From the moment I arrived I felt as though I was being a burden to the staff. I received attitude for asking to be seated. I received attitude for complaining about the 20 minute wait for my first drink. I received what seemed to be attitude for placing an order. The spot was cramped and the service was extremely unorganized. I have nev... read more

Delicious desserts--if the waitress will let you order them... – I was skeptical about this place after reading all the bad reviews, especially when my friend chose this place for our group dinner. Our group of 7 arrived on a Thursday evening about 10pm. We were seated quickly. Good wine...delicious NY style pizza...and delectable desserts! The ambience was perfect--candlelit and intimate, even for just a group of friends! I heard great things about the tiramisu float before arriving, and I really wanted to try it. Actually,... read more

Horrible Experience – If you are planing to have a great night out I highly suggest you go somewhere else. You will wait avg. 45mins for a table then you will wait another 20mins for a drink another 30mins - 1hr for a pizza. We made reservations for 20 two weeks in advance told them split checks. We got there table wasnt ready waitess was rude from the start of the night. Got half of our drinks wrong. Took 2 hrs to bring out the first 3 pizzas. When dinner was done she brought 1 big check and we told her from the begining th... read more
