Coal Vines Pizza

4.3

About this business

Coal Vines is a fantastic restaurant/wine bar in the heart of Uptown. With its coal-burning oven, this is probably the closest you will come to authentic New York pizza. The menu includes such delectable items as Pizzas, Spiced Salmon Salad, Salad Pies, which are served cold and by the slice, Eggplant Milanese Sandwich, Veal & Pepper Rolls, and amazing deserts like Tiramisu Float. Wine is available by the glass or bottle. The décor is upscale and it's easy to forget that everything on the menu is cheap.

Worst dining experience ever – This was definitely my all time WORST dining experience. The service was terrible from the waitstaff to the bartenders. They were rude and definitely made it clear that we were just another group of customers. The waitress was flaky and completely messed up our check and then tried to make us feel bad about it. The food was definitely average. This used to be a place I enjoyed visiting on occasion but I will never return. There are many more restaurants out there that treat their customers well... read more

Good food, Great Service – I have to be honest I took my wife to coal vines b/c of the mixed reviews that I have read about it. The reviews that I have looked over gave it high regards in the food catigory but very low in service. I must say that we had a pizza that was good, but service that was great. People that write these reviews must understand that when you take a group into a small establishment don't think that you are gods gift to the dollar, this business is out to make money. Take large groups at off times and if... read more

These People are Nasty – This is a place for the people of Dallas who don't demand even a decent service. The staff is rude and completely unprofessional. Don't go there unless you want to be treated like an animal.

I Believe in Good Pizza – Top pizza in Dallas. "In Dallas" is an important qualifier. Not fine dining but a great place to eat. Take the time to flip over a hot slice and notice the slight browning underneath. Sauce to cheese to toppings ratio is good and it never arrives soggy or greasy. Hot, each slice is perfect for folding. Good wine specials and fair prices. Salads are delicious. The place is reasonably priced, sort of a nice, cozy hole in the wall. Been amost a dozen times now and have an cccasional wait, but the place... read more

Don't waste your time or money!!!!!!!!!!! – I've never taken the time out to write a review, but after the unacceptable service my friends and I received (while celebrating a birthday), I figured I owed future diners a preview of a night out at Coal Vines. The evening started out with a 90 minute wait, but what do you expect since the entire restaurant is made up of about twenty tables. We stood outside by the door, drinking the wine we bought at the overcrowded bar, since there was inadequate seating in the restaurant. When... read more

worst service EVER – Please pay attention to previous reviews, the service is easily the worst i have ever experienced in Dallas. The manager, Joe, was SO rude, I could hardly believe it. We actually ended up walking out of the restaurant. This place needs a serious attitude adjustment. I've eaten here a couple of times before, and found the food enjoyable, but even if this was the most amazing pizza ever, I would NOT return. I don't give money to restaurants to be treated like they are doing me a favor by acknowledging me. ... read more

Manager JEFF harasses his employees, steals their money – Jeff, the manager at Coal Vines, is the reason I boycott this place and encourage you to do the same. He shaves everyone's hours down to 40/week. If they are entitled to over time, he takes it away. Additionally, he harasses his (mostly female) staff by telling them they are 'moody b!tches' and telling them to 's_ck my d!ck.' He prohibits his employees from speaking to each other during their shifts. Eventually the toxic environment will ruin the food.

Rude Service – The people who run this place think they are giving you free food and you have to behave as they tell you. They want to hurry you out of there before you finish eating. I don't know how they are able to stay in business treating their customers in such a rude way. I guess people in Dallas don't demand good and respectable service whan spending their money.
