Their website says " Our sites feature encryption and risk-based security technology. These controls, combined with automated alerts, an identity verification process and rigorous monitoring, help defend against unauthorized account access." Then I find out that THEY ALLOWED A TRANSFER OF FUNDS WITHOUT MY WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION or NOTIFICATION!!!!!!! REALLY???????????

I was ready to transfer a LARGE account to Charles Schwab in the City Center Washington, D.C. Office. I had spoken to a manager who said I must use Sean Jenkins. I was a little suspicious due to the fact I wanted to try a young broker who was just finished training. I am 65 and have worked with many young brokers over the 40 years of investment experience. My mother passed away recently and I am the successor trustee tasked with handling the trust/estate for my family. In a word, Schwab has been a nightmare so far. Our attorney prepared a very thorough set of documents and data to bring into Schwab to change/update the titles on our two accounts. Along with documents I signed and notarized with our attorney, the original death certificate and a certificate of trust was included plus the new tax ID number for the trust with IRS confirmation. Played with my money. Representatives don’t know what they’re doing, none of their services of are help. Took a month+ of waiting for a check that was suppose to come in 5-7 business days. Unorganized . Had to cancel the check pay the wire fee and you know what happens when I get the wire? $1000 is missing. When at check out, I saw what I was to receive. Double confirmed. Do NOT put your money here!! You have been warned. From Florida!!

Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. is by far the most unprofessional financial institution that I have ever tried to do business with. I wanted to start up a brokerage account to put together a self run portfolio. In the past I have used Scottrade and TD Ameritrade (after they bought out Scottrade) for this. I figured I would give Schwab a try since they recently acquired TD Ameritrade. I filled out the online process for the account on a Monday with the initial deposit information and everything.
