I am a relatively new user w/ Schwab, and after a few months decided to move to another provider. What I learned is that it is surprisingly difficult to close an account and to retrieve my cash from the account - Schwab has literally created (so far) 3 independent obstacles that are taking days to resolve preventing me from accessing my money. I have retirement 401k account via lose angles County, and I have personal account in Ameritrade which bought by Charles Schwab, 1- there is 100% difference in features both the apps has. Charles Schwab app is outdated such as 1920. 2- the customer services sucks, bunch of dumps The system can sell stock that still I have not owned in terms of number of shares , if I owned 30 shares and by mistake sell 40 shares the system still allows it. 3- the most horrifying flaws as of yesterday 12/21/2021 I sold some shares of baidu st... read more

Dear Better Business Bureau, I feel very angry and violated today at someone who claimed to be an employee at Charles Schwab who claimed his name was "Andrew". Andrew is taking pleasure right now reading this proclaiming "I GOT HIM YAHOO I GOT HIM" Andrew is one of those people who sounds as if he is your best friend all of the sudden but you have no idea who you are actually speaking to. The worst financial institution. I open a brokerage and joint checking account about a month ago. No activity has been done except for a wire i attempted but due to the account being new, it was canceled. So a hold was placed on my funds. I got a call from a rep to verify It was me. I went through their full verification process and was promised 48 that the hold would be lifted. It has been over 7 days now and my account is still on hold. Opened a new account and tried to link my checking account with them. They sent an email stating they made the initial deposits, and for me to log in to verify them. It appears the email was sent before the withdrawal occurred, which didn't allow me to enter the complete information. Now, four days later, it still isn't there. I called and then they transferred me to another area to which there was a 20 minute wait. What a JOKE! Opening up a brokerage account with Fidelity!

I transfered my investments to Schwab around 4 months ago. My balances have not increased because they took a decline with the recent dip in the market. I have a bill pay account that has not been easy to navigate. The automatic sign in has never worked and no one seems to be able to correct it. Viola A*******, my assigned financial consultant, informed me that bill pay was not her job. I was excited to invest in the stock market through Schwab when I opened my account. I began depositing all the money I have for investing to my new brokerage account immediately. About a week later I found a better opportunity and wanted to close my Schwab account. I spoke to a rep and he said the easiest way to do this is to sell all of my investments I've made, wait for the funds to settle and then wire transfer all of the the funds out at once. Horrible customer service. I have an IBA, a ROTH, and a savings account with the company and wanted to open "high yield" account, but the account was closed based on my Experian Report. There was no explanation nor reasoning to the closure. I would look into other options before considering a company that does not care about the consumer (member) and hopefully the company will return to the principles that build the company.
