If I could rate Charles Schwab a negative rating I would. I have a half dozen investment accounts from different providers with no problems except for Charles Schwab. I have been tracking a stock RIDE and tried to buy 1,000 shares at $14.94 last Friday several times and have screen prints. Charles Schwab refused to let me make the trade because they don't like the stock! I opened a Charles Schwab account a few months ago and recently they locked me out of the account for absolutely no reason at all. I called multiple times and the agent who was speaking to me was extremely rude and refused to give me any details. After calling for about a week an agent tells me to get a document notarized saying that I am the owner of the account. I do this and after another week of calling they tell me to send another one because it was too blurry. I send it again (paying a total of $40 to get both document... read more

I have been with Charles Schwab for some time and I have never had a problem with any of my accounts. I have a brokerage, Roth IRA, and checking account which is excellent for my banking and investment needs...everything under one roof. I'm perplexed by the negative reviews, but I hope these issues have been resolved for these clients. I love the fact that there are no fees for any of these accounts and I'm always able to get a hold of a service rep when needed. Just opened an account for my investment company but couldn´t get an answer in relation to my company W-****-E (whether it is correct or not). Tried to call dozens of times and sent emails as well. Therefore, as far as today, I haven´t been able to use the account due to possible double taxation.

Don't ever go to 'conflict resolver'--all conflicts are pre-resolved in Schwab's favor, according to Schwab's made-up 'facts'. Over and over I was denied a reason for the account closure; after many 'we will call you' promises, I finally found out why they refused to tell me the reasons: because they lied about what really happened, maybe to protect one of their agents who broke their rules. When contacting Schwab regarding a dispute, each dispute is addressed on its own merits and facts. Disputes are not “pre-resolved” in the company’s favor.

We have been Schwab clients for over 27 years and have multiple account totaling well over $500K. We have NEVER had a negative experience with any representative whether online or on the phone. Our personal account representative has been efficient, courtious, knowledgeable and helpful. We have taken advantage of several benefits such as a margin loan when we needed a down payment on a house and they have carefully watched for wire transfers and notified us when they were received. All their branches are closed. They suspended access my checking account which is my main account with over $12,000 in balance with no warning, call or verification from me first. I could get not access to my money to buy food, pay for things in cash and I called their hotline 3 times in the past 9 days now since they locked me out and I get the same run around answer that they need to verify that I opened the account. Go the other direction! Poor customer support...meaning that you?ll spend hours waiting for a rep to solve your issues. In my case I was a ?planned? account transfer from USAA to Charles Schwab. It soon became a nightmare. All of the assurances that USAA made that everything would go smooth turned into a nightmare. We couldn?t log into our accounts even though we had created our logins and what made it even worse, we couldn?t get a hold of a customer care rep because the lines were busy. Poor job!
