After locating the charger at Gills Bay Ferry Terminal, I took the plug from the DC holder, and about 200 flies came out of the plug itself. I plugged in and used my Charge Place Scotland card for the very first time. It was blocked. I used my credit card 4 times, and 4 times it said error but still took £40 each time as authorisation. I then phoned a very helpful guy at Charge Place Scotland called Robbie, who tried his best to unblock my card and reset the charger. In the end, we both had to give up. Webpay didn’t work even with mobile signal being sufficient. What’s really galling is that webpay will allow you to put in the machine number, tell you what ports you can choose, allow you to input payment information, process an authorisation of £40 on your card, and then after clicking Begin Charge throw an error that says this station is not available. Complaint to CPS resulted in being told to get an RFID Card - not an option for a visiting tourist. Also told that Evolt stations of that era cannot be synced to the CPS ma... read more

The charger is easy to find on the front of the ferry terminal building. Wasted a lot of time there! Unfortunately the mobile network is so bad at this location, that a charging session can not be started using WebPay. The very supportive hotline then tried six times to start a charging session remotely for the CCS connector, but on every try the charger delivered 40kW for 2 seconds and then stopped.
