The Cave of the Mounds is one of the most significant caves in the Midwest of the United States. The cave was believed to have formed nearly a million years ago, while the limestone encrustations around it are said to date back over 488 million years to the Ordovician Period. We had a great time and a great guide. We will definitely be back for the special events.
Always a great tour! The guides are very knowledgeable and are quite patient with the questions being asked. I learn something new each visit.
I hadn't been here since grade school. Went with my girlfriend for the Love On the Rocks evening for Valentine's. It was great seeing this again some 35+ years later. The staff is very knowledgeable and informative. For this event the cave was lit with candles staff would have cheese and fruit at points along with a classical guitar player and a amazing acapella group also along the way. I loved the Cave of the Mounds tour! Luke did an excellent job of taking us through the cave, you would never know that he studied animation in school. Great job, well done and we will be back to visit again. Oh, I also loved my pretty geode that they cracked open for me :)
